About Me

Biography & Personal Statement

Pearl Uva is a sophomore from Federalsburg, MD studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Maryland. Her interests include horse riding, painting, crocheting, and working with CAD software. She plans to take the space track of the aerospace engineering major and study the complexities of creating extraterrestrial crafts. By furthering research in aerospace we can expand the possibilities available to humans and constantly learn about fields that may have once been unobtainable. Once she graduates with a bachelor's degree in Science she aims to find a job in an aerospace field that works with the engineering of satellites and orbital masses.

As a College Park Arts Scholar, Pearl intends to explore the different forms of art that originate from different places around the world. She looks forward to her Capstone project where she intends to look deeply into the nuances that personal experiences and background have on how different people interpret art. Pearl is an active member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and the Women in Engineering (WIE) program. She is also a participant in UMD's Balloon Payload program. Her goal at UMD is to complete a senior project that demonstrates her mastery of the space track course by learning from many diverse sources.
